There are two distinct grades of lubricants on the market today. One is the “commercial” grade;  the other is the “custom-built”. The “custom-built” lubricants far excel the commercial grades on many levels. To compare our products with commercial grade products, click below.

CRUDE

Aqua Lube

Aqua Lube Lubricants are always manufactured from selected crudes known to be the very best for each specific application; this means 100% paraffin base crude. Paraffin base crudes are acknowledged to be vastly superior in natural lubricating properties; especially in their ability to withstand high temperatures. Paraffin crudes are inherently free of impurities and are almost entirely free of harmful sulphur.

Commercial Grade

Commercial lubricants are generally manufactured from cheaper, lower-quality types of crude such as low-gravity asphalt or naphthenic base stocks. Asphalt base crudes are the least expensive kind of crude oil. Asphalt base (naphthenic) crudes are naturally low in most of the important lubricating properties; particularly in resistance to high tempuratures. Asphaltic crudes usually contain a high percentage of impurities, particularly corrosive sulphur compounds.

MANUFACTURING

Aqua Lube

Aqua Lube lubricants are manufactured slowly and with extreme care. They go through 3 or 4 times as many different processes as the other type. Sale price is secondary; the primary consideration is to build the very finest lubricant that can be produced for each specific purpouse. The better the lubricant, the cheaper it is to use in actual operation.

REFINING

Aqua Lube

Custom refining is a slow, thorough and mild method of removing impurities. The oil is not damaged and it retains all its desirable lubricating qualities.

No residiums are used in the maufacture of quality custom-built lubricants. Oils used in the manufacture of custom-built lubricants are not subjected to harmful “catalytic cracking” for gasoline. All the natural strength of the oils is thus retained for lubricating purposes.

Commercial Grade

Commercial refining techniques are faster and cheaper but are drastic processes. They remove many of the desirable elements as well as the undesirable.

Many commercial grade lubricants are made from a “residium”. Residium is what is left after the gasoline and other light ends have been removed. The residium is so weakened by the drastic methods (catalytic cracking) used to extract gasoline that its lubricating qualities are seriously damaged.

OPERATION

Aqua Lube

Long-range operating economy is achieved by using as large amount of each raw material as necessary to provide maximum lubricating benefits. Sometimes these raw materials comprise very complex and expensive chemical additives or bases, but there is never any “skimping” in a true custom-built lubricant.

Commercial Grade

Short-range economy is achieved by cutting down on the volume or percentage of the more expensive raw materials. A commercial grade lubricant may contain some of the same raw materials as a custom-built lubricant, only in small volume or percentages.
